Part 1 – 1000 Islands Adventure Begins
There’s always that moment—the one where it stops being an idea and starts being real. For us, it wasn’t loud or dramatic. There was no countdown, no perfect send-off. It was just a quiet shift from “we’re getting ready to go” to “we’re actually going.” The lines came off, the engine hummed to life, and just like that, SV Naughty Angler began to move.
We’ve talked about this journey more times than we can count in 2025 Planned it, delayed it, adjusted it. Said “soon” so many times it almost lost its meaning. But this time was different. This time, we didn’t turn back.
Our first trip takes us through the 1000 Islands, and honestly, it feels like the perfect place to begin. There’s something about it that feels cinematic—the winding channels, the open stretches of water, the quiet pockets where everything slows down just enough to take a breath. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger, even if you’re just passing through. And for us, it’s where the story truly starts.
We also decided this would be the moment we start documenting everything. Our first official sailing video—Part 1 of this journey—premieres on April 30, 2026. Putting it together has been equal parts exciting and nerve-wracking, because it’s not polished and it’s not a highlight reel. It’s just real moments, exactly as they happened.
The beginning of this trip felt exactly how you’d expect. A mix of excitement, a bit of “are we forgetting something?” and a whole lot of figuring things out as we go. That first stretch away from the dock carries a different kind of energy. Even if you’ve been on boats your whole life, it hits differently when it’s your boat, your responsibility, your direction. You notice more. You feel more. Even the small moments stand out in a way they didn’t before.
And of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the crew. Graham and Natosha at the helm and Willow—our second paw—watching it all unfold and patiently waiting for land to reappear at some point. She may not say much, but she’s definitely part of the journey.
This first leg isn’t about going far. It’s about starting. Finding a rhythm, learning as we go, and letting things unfold naturally instead of trying to force them. Some moments go exactly how you expect, and others don’t—but those are usually the ones that stick with you the most.
That’s really what this is about. Not just sailing, but stepping into something we’ve been working toward for a long time and finally living it.
If you’ve ever thought about doing something like this—changing direction, chasing something different, or just stepping outside the routine—you probably understand that feeling. That pull. That moment where you decide it’s time.
For us, this is that moment. And this is where it begins.
Part 1 premieres April 30, 2026 on YouTube @thenaughtyanglerofficial- our main hub If you end up watching, following along, or even just checking in from time to time, we’re glad you’re here. More to come.
